“Memories That Get Under Your Skin” is a collaborative project between Leather Art Union, Lennart Mänd and students of Leather Art of Estonian Academy of Arts, Ilmar Taska and Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media (BFM), Liis Reier and Tallinn French Lyceum. Curated by Marje Taska and Reet Varblane.

After a year on tour, the exhibition has reached its last destination: the Parliament House in Tallinn (Lossi plats 1a, Toompea). For the coda, I show a dance and sound performance, 'Fia med knuff / Ludo' (choreographed by Krista Köster) where four dancers are pieces on a large game field. Each step corresponds to a piano key on a chromatic scale, engendering stirring chords. We all know the rules - to reach home without getting kicked back to your own yard...

The Exhibition ”Memories That Get Under Your Skin” consists of 80 stories written by Estonian, Russian, Swedish, Ukrainian, English, Finnish, French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Jewish, Arab and many more. These stories are of memories, events, places or persons that are in some way significant, something that has gotten “under the skin”. Leather artists and designers have created a leather casing to hold and preserve each story. The casing, a protective skin, is not only purely functional but also a visual interpretation and a dialogue with each unique story.

Exhibition started at Vabaduse Gallery in Tallinn and continued during 2015 to Museums in Kuressaare, Võru,Valga and Narva where more stories were added.
The project is supported by Estonian Cultural Endorsement and Estonian Artist Union.
